Mistletoe Mysteries Booklist - Updated for 2012!

It's a December tradition at the Bennett Martin Public Library downtown -- the appearance of the annual Mistletoe Mysteries book display, featuring winter holiday-themed mystery fiction from both the past and present! This year, when the display hadn't gone up by December 3rd, we started getting concerned questions from mystery fans!

In addition to sampling the books on the display at the downtown library, the Mistletoe Mysteries booklist on the BookGuide site has once again been completely updated, to include new holiday-themed mysteries added within the the past year. If you're a fan of this traditional mystery sub-genre, stop by the online booklist to see what new titles have been added!

Mistletoe Mysteries booklist -- Updated for 2009!

In honor of the season, we've got the traditional Mistletoe Mysteries book display up at the Bennett Martin Public Library downtown. This holiday-themed selection of mystery fiction has become something of an annual tradition here, and the online booklist that inspired the display has been updated for 2009 as well.

The following titles (below) have been added to the Mistletoe Mysteries booklist this year. We'd love to have you look through the full list on our BookGuide web site and then reply to the following question:

If you're a fan of mystery fiction, do you have a favorite among holiday mystery novels, particularly among those on our Mistletoe Mysteries booklist?

Celebrate the Freedom to Read During Banned Books Week

Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read
September 27th - October 4th, 2008

Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read is observed during the last week of September each year. Observed since 1982, this annual ALA event reminds Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted. This year, 2008, marks BBW's 27th anniversary (September 27 through October 4).

BBW celebrates the freedom to choose or the freedom to express one’s opinion even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular and stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of those unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints to all who wish to read them. After all, intellectual freedom can exist only where these two essential conditions are met.

BBW is sponsored by the American Booksellers Association, American Booksellers Foundation for Free Expression, American Library Association, American Society of Journalists and Authors, Association of American Publishers, National Association of College Stores, and is endorsed by the Center for the Book in the Library of Congress. --American Library Association Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read 2008.
