New Booklist on BookGuide: If You Like...Colleen Hoover

 

Colleen Hoover is one of the hottest authors currently being published -- in fact, she was the #1 best-selling author in 2022, exceeding such traditional powerhouses as James Patterson, John Grisham, Janet Evanovich, Nora Roberts and Stephen King. Hoover began by self-publishing her first few novels in 2012, before being "discovered" by a mainstream publisher and receiving boosts various social media networks (especially the #BookTok community on TikTok) that helped her skyrocket to the #1 post.. Hoover's novels all have some elements that are similar, though she writes different series with somewhat different tones. She writes both "series" and stand-alone novels, for both Adults and Young Adults.

New "If You Like..." Booklist

Are you a fan of the 20+ films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that culminated in Avengers: Endgame? Do you follow the various interconnected television series on the CW network that are part of the "Arrowverse"? Or perhaps you're more old-school, and prefer classic older superhero TV series like Lois & Clark, The Greatest American Hero, Wonder Woman, The Adventures of Superman, or Captain Nice? Or Christopher Reeve as Superman, or Michael Keaton as Batman?

Whatever your preferred superhero flavor, you'll find them all listed on the If You Like...Superheroes in Film and TV "booklist" of DVDs. New "If You Like" list -- The Twilight Saga

We've put together a new "If You Like..." booklist, for fans of Stephanie Meyer's bestselling Twilight series. Featuring angsty teens, vampires, werewolves and relationship issues, Meyer's four-part saga has been one of the most popular series in Young Adult literature for the past 10 years.

The books have also been turned into four feature films, with a fifth scheduled to conclude the saga in 2012.

New Booklist - If You Like...The Help

Carrie K., of the Bennett Martin Public Library downtown, has put together a new "If You Like..." booklist, for fans of the 2009 bestseller The Help, by Kathryn Stockett. Set during the civil rights era of the 1960s and dealing with issues of race relations and domestic help, the novel is touching, comical and full of wry observations on human relationships.

It was also turned into a feature film in 2011, which is being mentioned as a possible Oscar contender.

If you're a fan of the Flavia de Luce mysteries by Alan Bradley, you're not alone!

This popular new series, which began in 2009 with The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, features a most original new sleuth -- 11-year-old Flavia de Luce, who is fascinated with chemistry, and in particular poisons. The books feature a 1950s British setting, and an unusual narrative voice.
