I’ve Seen the End of You
by W. Lee Warren M.D. (Biography Warren)

At turns horrific and hopeful, this second autobiographically-based book by neurosurgeon Lee Warren is a chronicle of patient journeys through glioblastoma multiforme brain tumors — which are fatal with rare exceptions — and of his own faith, family crises, private devastation, and renewed Christian spirituality. Warren was a combat surgeon in Iraq and now practices privately. He has diagnosed and treated many patients who suffer from the brutal glioblastoma cancers and he has had many moments of doubt and frustration, especially when having to give the grim prognosis. This recounts how he is able to deal with such challenges and still maintain a positive approach to his work and his life. Several of his patients are highlighted and, despite the prevalence of dire outcomes, there are sparks of positivity and happiness. Also covered are a variety of Warren’s personal lows and highs. Told in frank but inspirational tones, this is a gripping look at the melding of science and faith.

Don’t let the cataloging designation dissuade you from re-watching (or watching for the first time) this now classic “Peanuts” story. Originally quite innovative for its jazzy score, animation style, and content when it premiered in 1966, this exploration of what the Christmas observance “is all about” holds up to the test of time very well. The trials and triumphs of Charlie Brown and his child peers are translatable to all ages and many experiences and they offer some enduring lessons about community, acceptance, and faith.

This is the second book by Nick Vujicic detailing his life struggles and triumphs, and joyously declaring his Christian faith. Born in 1982 without arms or hands and with only a small foot where his legs would be, this determined Australian boy has grown up into an inspirational speaker and entertainer. Normally a fearless and fun-loving child, Nick went through a very dark time in his teens, both from depression and bullying, but he got through it by faith and with the support of family and friends who never doubted that he could be and do anything he aspired to. Now living in California, Vujicic is the married father of a "normal" toddler and has encouraged and ministered to many thousands of people on the web and in person at churches, rallies, and community events all over the globe. On his down time he enjoys such things as surfing and golf!
