Three new Reader Lists on BookGuide - Best of 2012

Three new Reader Lists have recently been added to the resources available on the libraries' BookGuide reader resource pages. Library customer "BookMan" submitted three different "Best Of" lists from sources celebrating some of the best books of 2012. Check 'em out below

New Reader List - Time Magazine's Top 10 Fiction and Non-Fiction of 2012

Library customer "BookMan" has submitted a new Readerlist to the libraries' web site -- Time Magazine's Top 10 Fiction and Non-Fiction of 2012, with the following commentary: "Once again, not all are owned by the libraries but enough are that I thought people would be interested!"

If you'd like to submit a short list of book/dvd recommendations to share with other readers/viewers on the libraries' web site, please visit the Readerlists index page and click on Submit a List! We're looking for recommendations appropriate for adults and teens!

New Booktalk Booklist - ALA Notables 2011

We've been adding some new Booktalk Booklists to the archives at the libraries' BookGuide web site, and that gives us an opportunity to highlight a couple from Library Director Pat Leach. Each year, Pat presents a booktalk at various locations that feature highlights from the annual list of Notable books, selected by the American Library Association. Pat's most recent ALA Notables talk was presented in November 2012 at both the Bethany and Gere BooksTalk sessions, and featured titles from the ALA list that were published in 2011. The ALA Notable lists always include both Fiction and Non-Fiction, as well as a couple of Poetry titlese as well. Here are the links to the past several ALA Notable talks that Pat has presented. What Was Your Favorite Read of 2012?

Here we are at the beginning of a new year -- time to look back at what we enjoyed about 2012. And one of the most popular categories of annual reminiscing is our traditional question:

"What did you most enjoy reading in 2012?"

Although, to be fair, we're happy to modify that to ask all of you -- What was the favorite thing you checked out from a library in the past twelve months? And what format did you make use of -- book, ebook, book-on-cd, downloadable audiobook, dvd, music CD, magazine?

We've already shared this on the libraries' Facebook feed in a similar post. If you follow us there, feel free to reply their. Or leave a comment here...we're curious to know what was "hot" with our customers in 2012!

New Booklist - NYT 100 Notable Books of 2011

A new booklist has been added to the web pages of the libraries' BookGuide readers advisory site! The New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2011 is a collection of the 100 most noteworthy books, in both fiction and non-fiction, released in the English language during the course of 2011. At least, in so far as The New York Times Book Review's staff is considered.

At the time of the list's release, in the December 4th issue of the Book Review, the Lincoln City Libraries has 61 of the 100 titles in our collection. This online booklist has those 61 titles hotlinked into our catalog. We encourage you the use the libraries' InterLibrary Loan service to request the remaining titles, or fill out our online Suggest-a-Title form to recommend them for our collection!

New Readerlist - Slate's Best Reads of 2009

A new Readerlist was submitted to the BookGuide site by reader BookMan, featuring the titles included in Slate.com's "top reads for 2009" column.
